SUMMARY:Voices from the Maghreb: The Jews of North Africa During the Holocaust (ZOOM)
DESCRIPTION:Presented in partnership with the Ghetto Fighters’ House \n\n\n\nThe Holocaust reached far beyond Central and Eastern Europe. This virtual program explores the experiences of Jewish communities in Morocco\, Algeria\, Tunisia\, and Libya during World War II\, highlighting the impact of Nazi Germany and Vichy France across North Africa. \n\n\n\nThrough historical photographs\, archival materials\, and personal stories\, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the diverse experiences of North African Jews\, including discriminatory legislation\, forced labor camps\, persecution\, resistance\, and survival. The program broadens traditional Holocaust narratives and encourages educators to present a more inclusive history of the Holocaust in their classrooms. \n\n\n\nPresented by Lorenn Peer of the Ghetto Fighters’ House\, this professional development program offers educators practical historical context and new perspectives for teaching about the Holocaust and Jewish life beyond Europe. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nZoom Information: Please email info@hercri.org to receive your individual Zoom link.
